Ready To Move Dirt!

We’re ready to move some dirt! As you may have noticed, Plano Coudon has moved their construction trailer on to our property to start the construction of the Educational Wing. Soon you will see a chain link fence go up on the North side of the walkway leading from the unfinished parking lot, keeping our children safe from the construction hazards. Heavy equipment will use only the strip of road in front of that parking lot, and construction workers will use that lot for their personal parking. All the permits and financing are in place. Expect bulldozers soon. We will do our best to communicate with the contractor to minimize interferences with normal church operations but you can help us do that by making sure the church office has clear advanced notice of any potential conflict, especially during weekday events.

The scope of the project….. about a 9-10 month build plus a month or two of “owner furnishing” and moving in. But after the new wing building is complete, there will still be additional construction for the parking lot road completion and the renovation of what is now the child-care center into future choir rooms. Child care will move into its new-digs, a large, well equipped suite on the main floor just inside the new wing. We will post floor plans of the new wing in the Welcome Center and near the Architectural Mock-up for your viewing.

Other related news, by this posting, we will have employed a part time program manager to be our advocate throughout this phase of building. We are planning the permanent signs on MD103 to show the world our new home, but have erected the refurbished old GM signs temporarily at our driveway entrance until more permanent ones can be designed near the Phase II completion.

What about the road? No change from last month…except the weather is getting much better. Oak has the go ahead to complete the road. So we expect that completion real soon. Old New Cut will become “right in and right out” only, and renamed Bauger Farm Road. That will at least open the door for a state re-evaluation of our intersection for a traffic light.

Fell free to ask me or anyone from the Building team for details.
